20/07 UPDATE

Hello Carinya Community

Some of you may be aware that a case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Mareeba today.

The advice we have received from Tropical Public Health is this case has been deemed as low risk at this stage due to appropriate measures being taken by the person at all times during their quarantine and testing period.

This is however a reminder that the threat of infection of COVID-19 is still very real and everyone needs to ensure they are practicing hygiene etiquette to minimize any risks of contamination.

This includes using hand sanitisers, face masks, washing hands frequently and importantly to also use the Check In Qld app, especially when visiting Carinya.

If you are unwell or have been in any COVID-19 hotspots, avoid visiting the facility until a later date.

Please ensure you get tested if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.

While we are fortunate to be in a regional area, the potential for transmission is still very much something that can arise quite quickly.

If you are not already, please ensure you seriously consider COVID-19 vaccination for your own safety as well as those in our community.

Thank you
