31/03 COVID-19 Information Update

Hello Carinya Community

Please note that the Qld Premier has now formally directed that Residents do not leave the Home, except for those who must travel to access health care (discuss with Nurse on duty prior) or in the case of emergency.

The introduction of Telehealth with our Doctors will reduce the need for Residents to travel for medical appointments.

Visitors: changes now mean a family visitor is intended to visit a maximum of once a day for 15-20 minutes.
Ideally, families should nominate a designated person who will visit and communicate to other family and friends as required.
This reduces the risks of viral transmission further.

If your loved one is able to use a smart device or tablet please consider providing one if possible to maintain contact as much as possible.
Our Activities Team can assist, and have devices, however a dedicated device makes access easier for families.

Access changes are now in effect for those choosing to visit.
The door to Kevin Wadley Lodge is accessed via the intercom at all times.

Access to other areas is via Jim Chapman Lodge Reception.
After 4.30pm in the afternoons, and on weekends this will be via intercom to the Nurse who will come to the door to assist you to sign in.

Please also note that the Government has stipulated that as at 1st May, any person entering the Home must have a current flu vaccination.
This is quite clear – and applies to all Staff, Contractors, and Visitors.

All visitors will need to provide evidence of their vaccination, via receipt or medical certificate.
A process for this will be advised the week prior, and will include visitors showing our staff evidence of vaccination.

The above are definitive steps to protect our Residents and our Staff.

I reiterate that the Home is preparing extensively and implementing infection control processes and education to ensure we are as ready as we can be for the coming months.

Your support of these requirements is appreciated.

Please remember if you have any concerns please let me know, do not express your frustration or anger with our Staff as this is counterproductive to the efforts they are making.

Thank you all again for working with us as we care for your loved ones during this time of uncertainty.

Regards
David Osborne
Chief Executive Officer
