Salary Packaging
Under the status of a public benevolent institution, Carinya Home supports staff to structure their incomes to reduce the gross taxable value, thereby decreasing tax and increasing take-home pay. In addition to competitive rates of pay, salary packaging (also known as salary sacrifice) ensures earnings are optimised. Please see Payroll Staff for more information.
Flexible Working Conditions
Because we operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, we acknowledge the need for flexible working conditions to enable staff to achieve a balance between work, home and other interests.
Learning and Development
Carinya Home acknowledges that career development is linked to personal job satisfaction, workplace productivity, reward and recognition, and is critical to the achievement of continuous improvement in the quality of its services. Through assistance schemes, staff are encouraged to undertake education and training activities related to their employment in order to improve their personal and professional development.
Immunisation Program
Outbreaks of influenza of varying severity occur every year, usually between May and September. It is estimated that up to 25% of healthcare workers contract influenza during any given season. Carinya Home provides staff with assessment, screening and vaccination against influenza and other specified infectious diseases as required.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Staff are provided with the opportunity to seek confidential and independent assistance from qualified and experienced counsellors when faced with problems of a work or personal nature. The Carinya Home EAP is available to staff to help deal with personal problems that might adversely impact their work performance, health or well-being. The EAP provides opportunity for assessment, short-term counselling and referral services at no cost to staff for up to 3 sessions. We strongly recommend that staff visit their Doctor if more than 3 sessions are required.
