Volunteers are people who give their time, skills and energies in service to the community for no monetary reward. They represent a significant resource and extend and reinforce the work of paid staff.
Without volunteers it would be impossible to offer our residents the variety of activities currently available. Also, our volunteers assist with transport for doctor appointments and many other tasks, e.g. take our residents for wheelchair walks, chats, shopping etc. For further information regarding volunteering, please contact Reception staff to meet with our Diversional Therapists who will be pleased to discuss volunteering with you.
Our responsibility to our Residents is to create a caring and sharing community. Police checks would give residents, relatives, carers and staff greater confidence in the quality of care being provided by Carinya. In accordance with legislation under the Aged Care Act 1997, Staff and certain Volunteers must undergo a police check. Carinya Home will pay and the balance is funded by the Qld Govt through their Volunteer Support Program. As such, your offer and of any on going volunteering with Carinya Home in this role is conditional upon a current “Australian Federal Police Criminal History Check”, and maintaining a Police record which does not contain any charges or convictions that are considered by the Home to be relevant to your role and could potentially put at risk the Home, its clients or other staff.
