At Carinya, we want you to feel at home as much as possible. Our buildings, communal areas, resident rooms and gardens are all maintained with a focus on brightness and light. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is here and we encourage you to bring your keepsakes, framed artworks and photographs, to bring that homely feel into your new space. The Caryina community will support you at all life stages, with a commitment to ensuring you can enjoy life’s possibilities.
Our home has a number of private rooms and a limited number of companion rooms – we provide individual care needs in a safe, inclusive and supportive environment. All our residents are ably assisted to maintain their independence and continue meaningful social engagement with the wider community by our caring staff. Let our family, take care of yours.
The residents of Jim Chapman Lodge are supported with daily assistance for tasks such as showering, dressing, eating and taking medication. Some nursing care is provided, where required. Built in 1977, the building is divided into four wings, each named after lakes in the surrounding area. Two central courtyards provide an open and airy atmosphere. Rooms were enlarged and significantly refurbished in 2012–2013 and again in 2020.
The residents of Enid Collins Lodge are supported with enhanced daily assistance to meet their individual needs, which may be due to frailty and/or various health conditions that require specific treatments and/or medications. The 45-bed Enid Collins Lodge was opened in March 2015 and offers residents state-of-the-art single ensuite rooms, all with exceptional views of the natural environment and landscaped gardens, that surround us here at Carinya Home.
Our Kevin Wadley Lodge is made up of two special care wings catering for individuals living with dementia. Barron and Walsh Court are both secure units that allow residents to move around as they wish, without the risk of getting lost. At Carinya Home, we understand that people living with dementia can experience difficulty communicating their feelings and preferences to others. That’s why we try to maintain a familiar roster of carers, to minimise any potential resident distress, and ensure all staff are well trained in dementia-specific care. We recognise each person’s individual preferences, values, lifestyle choices and needs and embrace the philosophy of person-centred care, to optimise wellbeing, health and happiness.
We understand that end of life can be a difficult subject to approach; however, we encourage you to discuss your wishes with your family and doctor before, or shortly after, moving into your new home. Documenting your wishes in an Advanced Health Care Directive is highly recommended. At Carinya, we are committed to providing you with care that enables your quality of life, respects your choices, and maintains your dignity. The only way we can do this, is to know what is important to you so that your wishes are carried out. We encourage you and your family to have regular discussions with us, should your wishes change. This helps us to ensure we are on the same page in knowing what is important to you and your family at any given time.
Our residents form the heart of the Carinya community. All we do is centered around their comfort and care. Our place is where loved ones are welcomed and residents enjoy all of life’s possibilities. Welcome to Carinya Home.
